There is quite a bit that needs to be sorted out before the start of next season. I will lay those out for you so you can keep up with the off-season for our Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Retain Liam Coen The most important is completed.
2. Re-signing players (or not): The Bucs have some big names to consider these next couple months before free agency “officially” starts. Here is a key list of things to keep an eye on. The following are not under contract for next season.
Lavonte David: ARGUABLY the greatest Buc of all time - Definitely in the conversation, is not currently signed for the 2025-26 season.
Chris Godwin: Outside of Evans, Godwin may be the best WR the franchise has had. We were fortunate to have both Evans and Godwin together.
K.J. Britt - very underwhelming season
Ben Bredeson (offensive guard)
Robert Hainsey (center)
Will Gholston (played his entire career in Tampa)
Mike Edwards
Bryce Hall
Joe Tyron
Anthony Nelson
Ryan Neal
Sua Opeta
Sterling Shepard
Troy Hill
Shaq Barrett
Im sure there are more but we can stop here.
It is very rare for teams to retain everyone on expired contracts so I will try to keep people updated every week if there is any progress.
3. Free Agency: The Bucs need to address the linebacker position, even if we keep Lavonte David. It is a weaker free agency pool and not a lot of stout interior linebackers in the upcoming draft. This will be a key position to upgrade if we want to improve our defense. Key names in free agency for the position
Interior Linebackers
Dre Greenlaw (fought back from an Achilles injury) 49ers
Isaiah Simmons (super athletic)
Bobby Wagner - wouldn't make sense to sign Wagner and let LVD walk
Devin Bush
Nick Bolton
Divine Deablo
Cornerback - another position that needs either depth or an upgrade.
Carlton Davis - LOL
Charvarius Ward
D.J. Reed
Byron Murphy

3. THE NFL DRAFT
Every year the NFL draft rolls around, teams and fanbases get excited to bring in the newest additions to the future of the team. Anything can happen during the draft which makes it even more entertaining. Teams can trade down for more picks, they can trade up to get exactly who they want or sacrifice draft capital for the future to obtain a second player they really want.(Texans with Stroud/Anderson.)
The Bucs needs would not be set in stone until after free agency. If we address certain needs in free agency we wouldn’t necessarily fill the same needs through the draft. As it stands right now
- I could see the Bucs attempting to draft an edge to play opposite of Diaby (unless they have faith in Braswell)
-I could see them drafting a tall and athletic corner to fill in behind (or replace.. DUHN DUHN DUHHNNN… Dean or McCollum)
- I could also see the Bucs attempting to draft another O linemen to solidify that entire group.
All in all we are off to a great start by retaining Coen who is likely to have the majority of the weapons to work with as he did to finish the season.
As always Go Bucs.
